Cheryl Gleason
Hall of Fame Class of 2015

Cheryl graduated from Columbus High School in 1972 where they had no volleyball program and there was not yet Title IX. However, she did play 4 years of college volleyball at Southwestern College in the KCAC conference after high school graduation.

She then became coach at Caldwell High School. Coaching there from 1979-1980 before moving on to Osawatomie High School as coach from 1980-1989.

From there Cheryl became an Assistant Executive Director at KSHSAA, and became the volleyball administrator in 1993, where she will be starting her 23rd year in that role. Her duties include assigning post-season tournaments, assigning officials for post-season, rules meetings, composing newsletters and numerous other duties.

During her KSHSAA tenure she has served on National Federation of High Schools Rules committees, has served as a moderator at NFHS volleyball sessions, presented at numerous rules committees as well as several other jobs.

This summer Cheryl will receive the National Federation of High Schools Association Citation, one of the most highly regarded achievements bestowed on individuals from the NFHS. This award honors individuals who have made contributions to the NFHS, state, athletic director, and coaching professions.
